Indie Polish Daily Hues Nail Lacquer Review & Swatches

Happy Summer! The sun is shining bright in California and the AC is in full effect.  Today I am doing something I have never done before.  Ive never featured an indie polish brand before and I am very excited to feature one of my growing favorites Daily Hues Nail Lacquer! The owner Jenn recently released her Summer line and today I will be sharing five cremes from the collection.

Daily Hues Nail Lacquer is a handmade 5 free nail lacquer which earns major brownie points.  Why put harsh nail lacquers on your fingernails when you can use beautifully crafted 5 free nail lacquer? For me its a no brainer.  Daily Hues summer collection consists of 7 polishes and today I will be sharing 5 cremes from the collection.  The names of each polish all have a sun, summer, or sunshine meaning.  Very clever for a summer collection.  Just something to keep in mind: all swatches were done without using a white base color. These colors stood out on their own!

First up is Cira! The origin of the name Cira is Italian and it means sun. This bright yellow creme is definitely a show stopper.  If you want to stand out at the beach, this is the yellow for you.  The formula was good.  I used 3 very thin coats to obtain full opacity and a top coat.

Next is Juliana.  Juliana means July and its origin is English.  I am a sucker for green polish and this beauty did not let me down.  Its very bright and vibrant.  I can easily see this being one of my favorites for the summer.  The formula was also good and I used 3 thin coats to obtain full opacity and a top coat.

Next up is Dawn.  Dawn means sunrise and its origin is Greek.  I am a fan of this blue for sure and I am normally not a blue kind of gal.  This gorgeous pale neon blue has a slight shimmer and is perfect for summer or year round.  The formula was great.  I used 2 thin coats and a top coat.

Next is Soleil.  Its origin is French and it means sun.  I love this bright coral color.  It is absolutely gorgeous.  The formula was really good.  Only needed 2 thin coats with a top coat.

Last one is Paiva! Its origin is Scandinavian and its meaning is God of sun.  This orange creme has slight holo flecks in it and it is hands down my favorite.  It reminds me of orange sherbet and it is a must have for summer.  I used 3 thin coats and a top coat.

Overall I really enjoyed this collection.  I knew right away when I saw them, that I had to get them.  Jenn at Daily Hues Nail Lacquer did a great job with this collection and she hit summer right on the nose.  The other two polishes in the collection are duochromes so go check them out.  And if your looking for some holographic polishes or a great deal on some destash nail polishes, visit Jenn at Daily Hues Nail Lacquer over at Storenvy (link below)!

Rimmel London Sweetie Crush Collection Swatches

There's no surprise that I am a fan of textured polish. It's like my favorite thing ever!!! Although I was very excited to see this collection, I was very disappointed at the same time. Why, you ask? Well I'll tell you, because the bottles are so darn small! I would need about 3 or 4 bottles to equal a full sized bottle of polish. Now although I have a serious control issue when it comes to purchasing nail polish, rest assured I only purchased one of each color.

The colors are very spring like and I honestly had no idea how strong the textured effect was going to be.  I'll just say, I was not disappointed.

First up is Candyfloss Cutie.  Pink packed with a lot of shimmer.  Can you say gorgeous? Pink and I sometimes have a love/ hate relationship but I have nothing but love for this pink cutie! This is two thin coats with no top coat.

Violet Swizzle is another beauty.  Two thin coats with no top coat.

Next up is Fizzy Appleicious.  Green is my favorite color so natural this was my favorite out of the collection.  This was a little on the sheer side so for this I used three thin coats with no top coat.

Sherbet Sweetheart is a shimmer yellow.  This one was extremely sheer.  I used three thin coats and probably could have used another but I already thought three was too much.  No top coat used.

Lastly is Blueberry Whizz.  I'm not too much of a blue girl but I can see myself rocking this color. After the green, this one was my favorite.  I used two thin coats and no top coat.

Overall, I am a pretty happy camper with this collection.  The textured effect was not overpowering and the shimmers were spot on.  I love the names of each polish as they tie in perfectly with the name of the collection.

OPI Limited Edition 50 is the New Fabulous and Pop the Cork! Swatches

The moment I saw that OPI had two Limited Edition nail polishes exclusively for Sally Beauty Supply, I rushed over to my local Sally's.  They were so new that my sale's lady had to manually put the codes in because they would not scan.  I'll admit I am a sucker for Limited Edition polishes and the fact that it was OPI, was like icing on the cake.

Do not expect to find these beauties anywhere other than Sally's.  They are exclusively only at Sally's as part of their 50th Anniversary.  That's right, this collection is only at Sally Beauty Supply.  The collection consists of two polishes: a hot pink creme entitled 50 is the New Fabulous and a gold glitter bomb entitled Pop the Cork! Lets take a closer look, shall we?!

Now I don't know about you but seeing these two side by side just looks like the perfect pair.

This is 50 is the New Fabulous.  Isn't she pretty? This hot-pink creme pops on camera so you can just imagine what this beauty looks like in person.  This is two coats and it applied beautifully.

Now its time to break out the OPI Glitter Off basecoat or the Elmer's glue...

Pop the Cork! is a beautiful glitter topper that can also stand alone.
It has a mixture of tiny and medium sized gold hexagon glitters, as well as silver hexagon glitters.
I used three coats above to obtain full coverage. I did not use a base color underneath.

Glitter bomb!

Now this is where the magic happened! 50 is the New Fabulous and Pop the Cork! are absolutely stunning together.

So now that you've seen the swatches, what do you think? Overall, I am very happy with these two purchases.  I am very happy I saw the sales ad for these beauties and no I do not feel bad about going straight to Sally's after getting off from work.  That's the life of a polish addict and I love it!

Autism Awareness - One Mani At a Time!

A few weeks ago I started a very important mission.  The mission to help raise awareness for Autism.  If you did not know, April is Autism Awareness Month.  There are plenty of ways to show support for Autism but in the nail community, painting your nails blue is one of the ways we show support.

As a teacher, Autism touches me very deeply.  Children are being diagnosed with Autism everyday.  I do not work with Autistic children but all children are equal.  Some children just do things a little differently.  It is important as individuals to educate yourself about Autism because it can affect anyone.

So with that being said, I asked my fellow nail lovers on Instagram to join me in a Nail Collaboration.  I did not do this to gain fame and followers.  I did this in hopes that maybe one person will take the time out to read about Autism.  The turnout I received from nail supporters was more than what I expected.

So many ladies took a stand and stood with me to help raise awareness.  I am completely thankful to each and every one of them.

Here is my solo shot from the collage.  For the gradient, I used two different shades of blue acrylic paint.  I also used acrylic paint for the zebra stripes.  I topped it off with Salon Perfect's Cosmic Dust.

There is just one week left if you would like to get on board and paint your nails blue.  Together we can stand up and #roarforautismawareness!!

Plaid Nails Tutorial

I've recently discovered that I really enjoy doing tutorials of nail designs that I do.  I would not consider myself skilled at extremely detailed nail art so to make up for that, I have to create other methods to create beautiful nail art. Which that being said, I hope you enjoy this tutorial and future tutorials.

To create these plaid nails, you will need three different colors of nail polish, a stripping brush, and a steady hand :)

Step One: Paint your nails with a base color.  I chose a white base color.

Step Two:  Create a tic-tack-toe pattern.

Step Three:  Starting on the left (or right) create another tic-tack-toe pattern in a different color.

Step Four:  On the left (or right) make one vertical line and then make two horizontal lines, one at the top and one at the bottom in a different color.

And your done!

*Please note that you may use acrylic paint as well if you prefer that over nail polish.

Essie Wedding Collection 2014 Swatches

Happy Saturday dolls, today I will be sharing with you Essie's Wedding 2014 Collection. The colors in this collection are very soft and chic. The collection has two shimmers and two cremes.

First up from the collection is She Said Yes!

A white shimmer base that was almost impossible to capture on photo but beautiful enough to be worn on your wedding day.  The shimmers are absolutely stunning to the eyes. It took about three thin coats to get almost completely opaque.

Here is a bottle shot.  Aren't those shimmers in the white base absolutely beautiful?

Next up is Got Engaged!

Got Engaged is a pink shimmer.  The shimmers did not want to be photographed as they were not easy to capture.  When you get engaged, the ring is better off being flaunted in person and this polish is no different.  Much more beautiful to the eyes.  For the photo above, I used three thin coats to obtain opaque status.

Gorgeous!

Next up is Love Every Minute!

This creme color reminds me of a peachy pink.  It was very easy to work with and applied well. This took two thin coats to obtain opaque status.

Last one from the collection is Meet The Parents!

A gorgeous creme baby blue.  Very easy to work with and applied very well.  I used two thin coats to obtain opaque status.

Overall, I am very pleased with this collection.  This is my first Essie Wedding Collection so I don't have anything to compare it to.  I can say you will not be disappointed with the colors.  The colors are soft and would be perfect for any special occasion.

OPI - Muppets Most Wanted Collection Swatches

I've been a fan of the Muppets for as long as I could remember.  Growing up watching the Muppets was always one of my favorite things to do as a child.  With that being said, I was excited for this OPI release of The Muppets Most Wanted Collection.  Right off the bat I told myself I was going to get the entire collection but after reviewing the collection very carefully and I do mean carefully, I decided to get only five out of the eight.

These five colors which includes two cremes and three glitters are absolutely stunning.  The other three in the collection included a pearlescent shade and two duochromatic shades.

First up is I Love Applause.  A really gorgeous pastel pink.  This color makes me feel so girly.  Its pretty sheer when applying so I first used a white base color and then used two thin layers of this gorgeous pink.

Next is Let's Do Anything We Want.  This glitter topper includes white and pink micro glitters and white square glitters.  I did have to do a little fishing for the white squares.

I layered two coats over I Love Applause.

Chillin' Like A Villian is a pastel orange creme.  It reminds me of orange sorbet ice cream.  Absolutely gorgeous.  This too was pretty sheer so I applied two coats over a white base color.

The next glitter topper is called Gaining Mole-mentum and its a funky one but in a good way.  It is a mixture of cut up glitter pieces in various colors.

Below I applied two coats over Chillen' Like A Villian.

I saved the last glitter, which in my opinion is the best out of the entire collection, for last.  This is Muppets World Tour and is probably my favorite glitter on the market today.

This is three coats with nothing under and wow! Absolutely stunning. It applied very easy.  I used it as a full coverage glitter but I am sure it will make a great glitter topper as well.

I was really impressed with this collection.  I am a glitter fanatic and these glitters blew me away.  I cant really pick a favorite because I really enjoyed all five of them.  Maybe I will consider giving the other three a try but for now I am very content with these.
